Hertneky Vision Source is holding their 8th Annual Sight From The Heart event on Friday, April 21st from 8AM to 4PM. Hertneky Vision Source in Brush will be donating one day's worth of FREE eye exams to the public. This will include free single vision or lined bifocal lenses with a basic scratch coating and frames. This is a first come, first served event. They guarantee the first 25 people in line will be seen. This event is to help those in need who do not have the means to afford an eye exam or glasses and do not have health or vision insurance. Must be 21 or over to quality.

The City of Yuma will conduct its Spring Cleanup service from April 24 through April 28, 2017. To maximize cleanup efficiency, items must be ready for pick up by 8:00 AM on Monday, April 24, 2017. While City codes indicate that there be no refuse or rubbish placed in the alley or allowed to accumulate on the property, items for Spring Cleanup may be placed in the alleys three weeks prior to scheduled cleanup week. Please keep “cleanup items” far enough away from the trash containers so the containers can be picked up on their regular trash route. Due to time constraints, cleanup activities will be restricted to residential customers. After the scheduled cleanup week, residents will need to investigate other options for removal of any trash. The Tabernacle Experience is coming to Trinity Lutheran School in Fort Morgan. From Friday, May 5th through Sunday, May 14th, a full replica of the Tabernacle of Moses will be open to guests as 1215 W. 7th Ave. in Fort Morgan. This fully interactive exhibit has 7 stations that lead visitors through an Old Testament journey that is formative as well as informative. The Logan County Crime Stoppers Golf Tournament is hosting its 30th annual golf tournament May 7, 2017, at Riverview Golf Course in Sterling. The tournament begins with a shotgun start at 8 a.m. Lunch catered by Melody Heim will follow. As always, there will be door prizes, pin prizes and payouts or first and second places according to flights. Proceeds from the tournament supports the Logan County Crime Stoppers program. Cost to play is $50 per person, including lunch. Mulligans can be purchased the morning of the tournament. Crime Stoppers is still accepting sponsorships for the tournament. The deadline to apply for recognition in the Colorado Centennial Farms program has been extended through May 15, 2017. Colorado farming and ranching families who are interested in the program can apply here. The Centennial Farms ceremony is held each year at the Colorado State Fair in Pueblo.
To earn recognition as a Centennial Farm or Ranch, a property must meet the following requirements:
- Farms or ranches must have remained in the same family continuously for 100 years or more.
- Property must be a working farm or ranch.
- Property must have a minimum of 160 acres--however, properties with fewer than 160 acres can qualify if they gross at least $1,000 in annual sales.
- Properties that have four or more well-maintained structures—which are at least 50 years old—are also eligible for a Historic Structures Award.
The Colorado Centennial Farms program is a collaboration between History Colorado, the Colorado Department of Agriculture, and the Colorado State Fair. It honors the important role agriculture has played in our state's history and economic development, and illustrates the significance of Colorado's farms and ranches to the well-being of our state today.
